In fact, reading the manga is the most practical gateway into One Piece. The first doesn't involve viewing at all. But if, like many people, you find One Piece hard to worm yourself into, here are some practical viewing tips. Of course, if you do find this works for you, go for it. It might not be the best idea to start from episode one and watch the anime in its entirety.

RELATED: One Piece: 10 Things From The Manga We Want To See In The Netflix Show Where to Start That's not to say they remain respected and enduring series, but One Piece's ability to be consistently great over a 20 year period is not something you see every day. Titans like Naruto and Bleach, which have mostly concluded (save for Bleach's unexpected "Thousand Year Blood War" adaptation), are generally criticised by fans as losing some of their narrative brilliance over time. It's remarkable how a work of such longevity has not withered over its lifespan. Which brings us to another reason: One Piece's plot has not dropped in quality.

Despite their length, the anime and manga's current arc contains some of the most engrossing work One Piece has ever provided, and it would be a waste to not involve yourself in the rowdy fandom while the series inches ever closer to its climax. The series' popularity speaks to its ability to appeal to a whole lot of people, certainly not restricted to the young male demographic. It will remain relevant for a long time to come. One Piece is a hugely influential series, not even restricted to the medium of anime. There's a comprehensive list of reasons why someone should get into One Piece, but we'll set the main ones out here.

RELATED: One-Punch Man: A Dangerous Villain Just Got a Massive Upgrade Why You Should Watch The One Piece anime portrays the manga somewhat inconsistently, sprinkling in some unnecessary filler, frustrating pacing and a few periods of subpar animation, but it is, on the whole, a decent adaptation. The story has a long, ever-expanding list of characters (readers might recognise the names of Zoro, Sanji, Nami, etc.), which filter into a story that is a whole lot of things, though never dull.

This iconic anime protagonist sets out with a bold dream of becoming the Pirate King, set against a sprawling, colorful world full of pirates and anything else Oda can dream up. There's a reason, after all, that One Piece has remained at the top of the shounen hierarchy for so long, often receiving higher praise than other classics such as Narutoand Bleach. If this doesn't sound like your cup of tea, that doesn't mean you should completely discount the series. It's a shounen manga, meaning it's aimed at a young male audience, and it champions everything readers have come to expect from the genre: action-packed stories, exciting fight scenes, wholesome messages, fanservice, etc.

Starting to get curious what event is lining up for Episode 1000, but every episode until then should be on this level at minimum to help with the build up.One Piece is adapted from Eiichiro Oda's award-winning manga, serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump since 1997. Marineford filled the background with sfx for sword clashes, cannons and gunfire so we'll see if that changes with Luffy's declaration.

In general, I noticed a lot of awkward silence in what is now an active war zone with thousands of samurai on the offensive. The two epic Oden tracks ended anti-climactically still going after their moments had passed. Nami making faces at Zeus as her eyes were covered to suddenly reveal a blank expression paired with an eerie tone and laugh as the scene fades to bloody red was unexpected character acting gold. Good to see side battles like Nami+Carrot's combo, Luffy vs Big Mom and especially Yamato vs Ulti getting blessed with dat animation.

(Jinbe): Nico Robin, stay here and grab me my popcorn. Imagine if Ulti is not a mace expert and just really good at improvising with a weapon she swiped from a grunt.Funny that the Scabbards are content just digging their swords into Kaido while Izo keeps blasting that mofo. That intro card with Oden's shooting stars.
